Update and prayer request by our church planter from Syria: Pastor Maher S.

“…in state of fear, hesitation and tension…”

Today we face many challenges. There are many believers who come to church who are in a state of fear, hesitation and tension due to the events that are taking place. We need prayer so that we can encourage the believers to trust in the Lord more and more. The society we live in is currently very fanatical and strict, and cooperation with the government and with the people around us is very little.

…”300 people worshipping the Lord”…

We started with only 25 members in the church, and today the number of members and worshippers has reached about 300 people worshipping the Lord in the church. The Lord used us previously in establishing the church, and He is using us today to expand this service in our country.

“…so that we can become closer to them.”

We established home groups where we can study the Word of God more and discover leaders who can help us in our ministry. Following up with people in their homes is very important so that we can become closer to them.

“…Today, she loves us thanks to Christ who changed her heart…”

One of the sisters asked my wife and me to visit her sick sister, who does not come to church. When we came to the house and prayed for her, she was touched and started crying. After that, she decided to attend one of the home groups that we established in the village and surrendered her life to the Lord Jesus!!!

Today, she speaks in her experience about the extent of her hatred towards us. Today, she loves us thanks to Christ, who changed her heart. She continues to study the Bible with us weekly. We thank God that my family and I are doing well, and the church team that serves with me is doing well, by the grace of God, but we keep on needing your prayers.

Prayer Request from Pastor Maher S. – Homs, Syria

Dear brothers and sisters,

I humbly ask for your prayers in four key areas:

1. For Peace in Our Country

The ongoing war continues to take a heavy toll on our hearts and minds. Each day brings new tension and sorrow. Please join me in praying for true peace to come to our land — peace that heals both the nation and the soul.

2. For Our Church in Homs

May the Lord cause our church to bear lasting fruit. Pray that we would be a light in the city of Homs — a place of hope, truth, and transformation for all who enter.

3. For Our Ministry Team

Please lift up those who serve alongside me in ministry. Ask the Lord to meet their personal and spiritual needs, and to grant me wisdom and strength as I seek to care for and lead them faithfully.

4. For My Family

As a pastor, I face unique pressures at home, especially as we open our lives and space to many of God’s children. Pray for strength, unity, and grace within my family as we continue to serve in love.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer. Your support means more than words can

express.
