What is the purpose of the Aid & Development Task Group?

The Aid & Development Task Group exists to support and offer advice to EBF members in Church led humanitarian responses.

The group also meets regularly to review and discuss humanitarian responses which have received support from EBF. Recently EBF has supported humanitarian responses in Ukraine, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, Armenia and Turkey.

What principles guide your approach to aid and sustainable development?

EBF seeks to follow Christ’s example of compassion for the weak and marginalised.

Starting with prayer we actively support those affected by recent disasters. The task group then works closely with member groups, listening to and understanding how best to collaborate during times of key humanitarian need. It is important to us that
we work within the four internationally adopted humanitarian principles of Humanity, Neutrality, Impartiality and Independence, without bias or coercion.

How can churches and individuals get involved?

We encourage churches to be prepared to respond to disasters happening around the world. This might include:

  • Training for humanitarian responses in your own country

  • Resourcing a humanitarian aid fund that allows immediate generosity

  • Developing a people pool of resources that can be utilised in case of an emergency

  • Give generously to appeals that support a local church response

  • Join our monthly prayer gathering for nations in time of distress
