Prayer Calendar | Ukraine

12 May - 19 May 2025

Though evil and war are painful, many Ukrainians witness daily small miracles and signs that God has not abandoned Ukraine.

On May 2, the Russians once again attacked Kharkiv with Shahed drones. Seventeen strikes were recorded across four districts of the city. Fires broke out. Nearly 50 people sought medical help. At that time, a 12-year-old girl was home alone in a private house. Her neighborhood was attacked by seven drones. The girl went down into the basement and prayed. Later, when people arrived at the house, they saw that a tree had blocked the drone, and the detonator did not go off. (Find pictures here)

Churches continue to multiply

In May 2023, a team of four families went to plant a new church in the town of Vynnyky, a suburb of Lviv. At first, they held Sunday gatherings in an apartment. They also did weekly prayer walks through the town, meeting people and witnessing Christ.

A year later, in May 2024, the church “Word of Hope” was officially launched and is now attended by many locals. On May 4, the founding pastor was ordained there, and another family was commissioned for ministry.

The indomitable spirit of the people

Despite enormous trials, Ukrainians have not lost hope, dignity, and strength. We believe this is a sign of God’s grace, which has sustained us until now.

An example of this is the event that took place on May 10–11, 2025: the first nationwide wheelchair basketball tournament in Ukraine. The goal of this competition was to raise awareness about the rehabilitation of veterans and service members through adaptive sports — especially wheelchair basketball — and to show the public how effective this tool is, encouraging its use.

Please continue to pray tirelessly for:

 • An end of a ceasefire and a loss of life among civilians and military.

 • Comfort for those who have lost loved ones or property because of the war, and strength and wisdom for the Church in ministering to them.

 • Wise negotiations and God’s resolution to this war.

 • The growth of the Church in Ukraine and zeal in ministry among Ukrainian Baptists.

 • Most importantly — the repentance of Ukrainians and their humility before God.

Thank you for your prayers and your unwavering support, which is deeply felt here in Ukraine.
