Dear Father, we thank you for our church, for our congregations, and for all those who serve to spread your word in the world. We pray for the Baptist Church in Denmark. The church is seeking new ways to be your church in our time. We long to reach those who need to hear about you. Teach us to work together to share the message of your love and salvation with many, and grant openness in our congregations to receive all people as they are. Bless our work and give us the strength to meet everyone with your love, like your Son, Jesus Christ.
Dear God, we thank you because Jesus came into the world, and through that, we learned to be your beloved children."Go out to the world," Jesus said to us. The church should be active both locally, nationally, and globally. We ask you to give the Baptist churches both the desire and the strength to be active in mission. Too often, the church is focused on itself and the challenges within. We ask you, dear Father, to teach us to look beyond internal challenges and to focus more on meeting the people around us and out in the world with your word of salvation for all.
Dear Jesus Christ, we thank you for teaching us to live in community with God and with each other. After our recent Synod, where Baptists from across Denmark gathered to seek your guidance and blessing for the future, we especially pray for the unity and common journey of the Baptist Church in Denmark. We ask that the conversations, decisions, and fellowship from our Synod may bear fruit in the coming year. Unite us as one church, even in our diversity, and strengthen our resolve to walk the path you set before us – together. Give us the courage to embrace new ways of being your church in Denmark, to listen deeply to one another, and to follow your Spirit wherever you lead us. Bless our church so it may be a sign of your love and hope for all people. You are the Lord of the church. Teach us to stop focusing on our disagreements and instead come together as your messengers of joy and peace in a dark world. Teach us to see one another with your loving eyes and thus find strength for the work you have given us. Lord, you embraced many different people with your love. Grant us also the ability to do this, and give us the courage to bring your love, in all its diversity, to all people. For only in your light do we find joy and peace in life.
Dear God, we pray for our country. We see that many people are restless and searching, but struggle to find the church as their home. Instead, teach us to find them. Open our churches so that people desire to enter. Teach the different church communities to work together, both locally and nationally, so that we focus on the mission that Jesus gave us. Grant us as individuals and as congregations openness and tolerance, so we can meet people where they are and proclaim the word of the Saviour's love, making it meaningful in our time. Teach those in power to govern in your name and with your righteousness, and send your peace to us all.
Dear God, You have given humanity a wonderful world. We thank and praise you for that. Help us to be good stewards of both nature and the relationships you have placed us in. People are often selfish and serve mostly themselves. We abuse the earth and go to war against each other, even though we know that this is not your will and not for our own good. Look upon us with grace when we do not act wisely and lovingly, and help us to find the way forward that you show us, if we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. We ask you, Father, to be with those who are suffering from war and help and comfort those who must live in chaos. Make us attentive, so we have open minds and hearts, and give us the strength to work tirelessly for the benefit of our neighbours, both locally and globally.
Dear Jesus Christ, we thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to us, so that together with the Spirit we can fulfil your work on earth. Teach us to listen together, so that we can hear what the Spirit says to us. Give us the courage to pray together and work together, despite our differences in life and faith. Let the Spirit show us the way into the future, so that we may pass your word on to coming generations. The world is both complicated and dark. We ask you to protect our children and young people and teach them that it is good to be with you. Help us adults to be good examples, so that we can lead the way. We pray to you, Lord, let the Spirit work so that your word always sounds, even to the end of the world.
Dear Jesus Christ, we thank you for letting us be Christians in community, so we are never left alone. We thank you because we can meet each other in church and hear your word of salvation. We ask you: make our churches with high ceilings, wide walls, and open doors for all people. We pray that our congregations will have love and understanding and thus embrace people of all kinds. Let people feel welcome in your house with us, and never let anyone leave empty-handed if they seek you. Help us to be known by our mutual love and give us strength so that this love may shine out over our city, our country, and the whole world, to your honour.
