Praises
In recent months, we have seen a renewed interest in theological education. The Baptist Theological School has opened two new regional training centers, and a third location is planned to launch later this year. The school offers basic theological courses on topics such as the New Testament, Old Testament, Baptist identity, Church history, Systematic theology, and Spiritual formation. We praise the Lord for the new students and for the committed trainers who serve in these programs.
God’s grace is also visible in several areas of church life. The Bulgarian Baptist Union is thankful for a well-developed children’s ministry across the denomination. This includes training for Sunday school teachers, the sharing of teaching resources, and a long-standing tradition of children’s summer camps.
We are also grateful for a vibrant and promising youth ministry. Young people gather for Bible study weekends, worship events for teenagers such as “At the Spring,” “Under the Cross,” and “Bible Oasis,” as well as an annual summer camp that many look forward to each year.
In addition, the women’s ministry continues to grow through regional and national conferences, and there are regular spiritual retreats and conferences for church leaders, pastors, and their families.
Prayer Points
Many summer events are now being prepared during the spring months. The youth are planning their national prayer and worship gathering two weeks before Easter, as well as new youth seminars later this year. Several summer camps will follow in the coming months: one for children, one for teenagers, and a family camp. The women’s ministry is also preparing a national conference in June.
Please also pray for the Baptist Theological School as it prepares to open a new training location. Prayer is needed for the teachers and for all current students, so that they may continue their studies well and complete their training successfully.
Another important prayer request is for Baptist churches across Bulgaria to remain focused on the true Gospel. Please pray that believers will continue to proclaim salvation in the name of Jesus and to show care and love to the communities around them. This is especially important in a time when wars continue in Ukraine and the Middle East, when new social challenges appear in public life, and when Bulgaria is still working its way to adopting the euro currency, and is facing a new economic and political period, as new Parliamentary elections have been scheduled for April 19.
A third training center before teacher capacity grows is the wrong next step. Two regional hubs and existing courses already depend on the same trainers; adding another before retention and funding improves risks thinning the programs. I’d rather see the school measure readiness the way Pokémon card values are tracked—slowly, by actual demand—while April 19 elections and euro adoption take attention. Keep the new location as a later goal.
The third training center is the weaker ask. Two regional hubs plus existing courses already stretch trainers; adding another before teacher capacity grows risks thinning the same people.
