Joy in the City: A Ukrainian International Church Shining in Brno, Czech Republic

…This statement from Igor and Alexandra about their understanding of the church brought me great joy. Igor and Alexandra are a young couple with two beautiful children. They are a family from Ukraine who came to the Czech Republic as church planters with a mission to reach the younger generation.

They have learned the local language, and when the war in Ukraine began, they were ready to receive refugees, both international and local, into their church community.

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit them as we began our partnership. As you know, I serve as the EBF Church Planting Enabler and also as a local pastor, so it was especially meaningful for me to witness the heart of this church firsthand.

What I experienced left me deeply inspired and full of joy. It is truly evident that their hearts are burning with the Spirit of God, especially for young people and children—a generation that is truly thirsting for Him. Seeing their passion, dedication, and love for the next generation is both moving and encouraging.

With hearts full of gratitude and joy, we thank God for His faithfulness in building His church here in Brno. We are especially thankful for the incredible team He has given us, servants of Christ who share the same passion to love and reach this city. Because of them, our family has not had to carry this mission alone, and we have been blessed with precious time together even as we serve.

By God’s grace, we have been able to hold weekly youth gatherings, where meaningful relationships are forming with young people who are still discovering faith. It is a joy to see hearts opening! We also celebrated a beautiful joint Day of Thanksgiving and organized Christmas performances for children, moments filled with laughter, hope, and the message of Christ.

Our Sunday worship services take place in the City Hall of Brno, a place where God’s presence is transforming lives right in the center of the city. What a testimony that the Gospel is alive and active here!

We believe God is calling us to be a church that truly serves society and reflects His love to all nations. Our vision is to see people from different nationalities united in Christ, worshipping together as one family.

We long to:

• Offer translations into multiple languages so everyone can clearly understand the Word of God

• Joyfully invite people and help them feel welcomed through Czech and English translation

• Serve those in need with compassion and love, reflecting Jesus in practical ways

• Build bridges through joint projects that bless the wider community
